The men’s volleyball team improved their Skyline Conference record to 15-13 with its win over Mount Saint Vincent College last night in the Bradley Center.
With their loss to Ramapo, the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins fell to an 11-13 record overall and 8-5 in the conference.
The Roadrunners swept the match in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-15).
Sophomore Justin Feigeles led the team with 16 kills on 29 attempts, hitting .345 in the match. He also contributed with his defensive game, tallying 15 digs on the night.
Freshman outside hitter Paul Close posted 12 kills, six digs and two assisted blocks.
Junior outside hitter Connor Brandow added nine kills on 12 attempts and both freshman middle hitter Brendan Russell and freshman outside hitter Jordan Elam added four kills each.
Freshman setter Mikhael Erushalimski dished out 41 assists while adding three kills and three digs in the match. The Roadrunners hit .327 as a team with 50 kills on 107 attempts and 15 errors.
For the Dolphins, Neven Skoblar led the team with 11 kills and Tyler Cucullu contributed nine kills and led the team with eight digs. Logan Dickover tallied 27 assists while adding three kills. The team hit .208 in the match with 32 kills on 96 attempts and 12 errors.
The first set ended with a score of 25-23. The set was filled with back-and-forth scoring between both teams until the Roadrunners pulled away after a kill from Close and another kill from Brandow.
The second set ended with the same score as the first set, 25-23. This was another back-and-forth set with scoring until Close and Brandow each had a kill to take the set.
To end the match, the Roadrunners came out on top with a score of 25-15. The Roadrunners started to pull away midway through the set after back-to-back kills by Feigeles and an assisted block by Elam and Close.
Sophomore outside hitter Patrick Wixted was happy with his team after the match.
“I think tonight’s game went pretty well. We definitely cleaned things up from last game. We really didn’t play too well last game, but we cleaned up our defense in this game. We definitely improved our hitting which is good,” said Wixted.
The Roadrunners look forward to keep the ball rolling and win some more matches coming up.
“We need to improve our defense. We have about a week off, so we can work on that. We are going to come out strong next week and hopefully take the conference finals,” said Wixted.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday when they host No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology at 7 p.m.
