The No. 4 ranked Roadrunners made yet another statement to the nation, as they dominated Lehman in convincing fashion, winning 12-0.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard in the second inning. In fact, they scored in four consecutive innings on Tuesday. Freshman Ryan Doerr got the powerful Roadrunner offense started with an RBI single to right that scored sophomore Mario Fontanella for a 1-0 lead.

They never looked back after that; they scored two runs in the third and fourth innings, three runs in the fifth and four in the eighth, respectively.

In the third, junior Rob DeAngelis was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, before scoring on an RBI single to center by sophomore Matthew Chemis. Then, Chemis came around to score on a sacrifice fly three batters later, when fellow sophomore Austin Unglaub flied out to center.

Doerr scored on a wild pitch. Three batters later, senior Joe Venturino smashed an RBI double to left; scoring on the play was Chemis. One inning later, junior Brandon Martinez hit a solo home run to lead off the fifth.

Then, Fontanella scored on an error by Lehman’s third baseman, before DeAngelis crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Three innings later, freshman Chris Nierva walked to force in a run, as senior Jared Ensmenger crossed home plate to extend the Roadrunner lead. The next batter, freshman Henry Myerchin, would then drive in sophomore Joe Crabbe with a single to shortstop, before fellow freshman Kevin Cagnetta drove in freshman Chris Eveigan with a single to shortstop of his own.

Then, sophomore Evan Ochlan was hit by pitch to force in a run, as Nierva crossed home plate. That rounded out the scoring in Tuesday’s game. Martinez was 2 for 5 on the afternoon with a home run, a single and a run scored, while DeAngelis went 1 for 2 with a single, a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Chemis hit a single in his only plate appearance on the afternoon, in addition to an RBI and two runs scored, while Fontanella had a walk and two runs scored. Venturino went 1 for 3 with a walk, a double and an RBI.

CJ Growney, who is a freshman out of Avenel, New Jersey, was absolutely dominant in seven innings of work, as he allowed no runs on, only two hits and one walk. He also struck out seven.

The Roadrunners continued their winning ways yesterday when they took down the College of Old Westbury by a score of 10-0. They are back in action tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. when they will take on Montclair in the beginning of a home-and-home.
