Whether it was a superhero T-shirt or the most intricately designed cosplays, the New York City streets were bustling with tributes to comic book, television and anime characters.

New York Comic Con was held at the Javits Center this past week from Thursday through Sunday, and there was something for every interest.

The main entrance to the event opened up to a strip of attractions, such as the “Museum of Lore” where guests lined up to take a small tour down a series of rooms. Each had their own unsettling scenes with titles including Gene’s Bedroom, The Unveiled and The Beast Inside.

A “Bank of E” table was set farther down the strip. Run by E Corp, a fictional company featured on the show “Mr. Robot,” the table was hosted by two women asking passersby if they wanted to create a bank account. The two actresses performed without stopping, despite visitors’ many attempts to make them break character.

Farther inside the event, there was a very large area dedicated to vendors. Huge areas were filled with sketches, posters, shirts, comic books and figurines sure to please guests with varied interests.

Artists’ Alley was another large area filled with booths of authors and illustrators from various manga and comics as they signed issues of their work brought in by fans and also had some available for sale. This was one of the most crowded sections during the event, as artists hosted lines of fans at their booths.

Audible.com ran one of the most anticipated panels of Thursday. It was a panel of an Audible exclusive audio book, titled “Artemis” by Andy Weir, author of bestseller “The Martian.” The panel featured the star narrator of the story, Rosario Dawson, and Weir himself via Skype. The panel discussed what inspired the book, what the premise of the story was and what it was like for Dawson narrating her first eBook.

What stole the show were the costumes and cosplays, which acted as attractions in themselves. Guests donned extremely elaborate costumes representing characters such as Batman, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Poison Ivy, Hawk Girl and fan favorite Harley Quinn.

No matter the extent of the costumes, fans from a plethora of different interests were enjoying themselves and taking in the festivities over the four days. It was a time for fans to truly delve into the shows or stories they love and do it with thousands of others.
