CPB hosts card game night for an intimate crowd

The College Programming Board hosted a card game night Saturday in the J. Lee’s commuter lounge area. It was a quiet evening that few people attended, but there was still fun to be had.

Initially entering J. Lee’s, the usual upbeat atmosphere that is present during the weekdays was missing. However, in its place was a nice chill vibe that proved not only welcoming, but comfortable.

“It is kind of intimate but it’s nice,” said Devin Anthony-Johnson, a junior music major. That sentiment seemed to be shared by all in attendance.

The different games that were available to be played were laid on different tables, which included: Cards Against Humanity, What Do You Meme, Headbands, and Uno.

There were only two groups of five at the event. One group of friends were playing Headbands and the other group played the game What Do You Meme. What Do You Meme is a game similar to Cards Against Humanity. To participate there is a meme on an easel and you match a card with a certain phrase on the cards that you have in your hand. Those who played it enjoyed it very much.

“Overall it was fun,” said Jureyah Johnson, a sophomore business major. “There’s not really a lot to do over the weekend at Ramapo, so it was nice to play a new game with friends.”

As the night went on, jokes and laughter slowly took over the room, overshadowing the calm and mellow vibe that was present at the beginning of the event. At the end of the night the group of students playing What Do You Meme were having so much fun that they lost track of time and the host of the game night actually had to ask them to leave.

Even though small groups of people were in attendance, this was a successful event. If CPB were to do more events like this it would definitely be beneficial because not only are they getting their name out there, but they are also providing students that live on campus a fun alternative rather than sitting in their room watching T.V. or playing video games all day.
