The Ramapo College women’s lacrosse team continued their hot streak with a hard fought 14-12 victory over Farmingdale State. The thrilling showdown resulted in the Roadrunners improving to a 5-3 record overall on the year after defeating yet another non-conference rival.

The Farmingdale State Rams kicked off the game with a goal from Julia Tuohy but the Roadrunners quickly rallied back when midfielder Colleen Manley tied the game up at 1-1 with her ninth goal of the season. And only 22 seconds later, it was junior Molly Warner who was able to score a clutch goal to give the Roadrunners the lead.

For the remainder of the first half both teams battled back and forth resulting in three overall lead-changes. Ramapo senior Alyssa Tachon was able to tie the game up at five with just three minutes left but the Rams weren’t content with letting Ramapo back into the game.

With less than three minutes left in the half, Sam Shelton of the Rams rallied back by scoring a crucial goal to give her team a one goal lead going into halftime (6-5).

The relentless battle between the Farmingdale Rams continued into the second half as Beth Mcgraw of the Roadrunners was able to quickly tie the game up at 6-6 only after a minute in. The Roadrunners were even able to finally take the lead back when midfielder Ava Rinaldi ripped a shot past the Ram’s goalie to give the Roadrunners a 7-6 lead.

While the Rams kept within striking distance for most of the second half, it was Tachon of the Roadrunners who was able to deliver the dagger to this Rams team.

With 15 minutes left in the half, Tachon would score back-to-back goals to give the Roadrunners a three-goal advantage. Tachon would later go on to score her fifth goal shattering her season-record and giving Ramapo a 14-10 lead.

Shelton and Alexandra Sparrow of the Rams would fight back with two desperate goals in the final minutes of the game but it just wasn’t enough as The Roadrunners took the win over their non-conference rivals, 14-12.

After the game, midfielder and defender Molly Warner talked about her excitement over the win and how well the team is playing.

“It’s great to finally get a win over Farmingdale,” said Warner. “Everybody is working hard and we’re looking forward to playing Stockton this Saturday.”

With only four games left in the season the Roadrunners are looking to play four NJAC rivals in the coming month including Stockton University, The College of New Jersey, Rowan University and Kean.

Hopefully the Roadrunners will be able to continue their dominating win-streak when they take on The Stockton Ospreys this Saturday at The Athletic Center Turf Field.
