Inspirations for 2019 Halloween costume ideas

It’s that time of year again where one of the most prominent thoughts on people’s minds (if they haven’t decided already) is what exactly they’ll be dressing up as for Halloween this year. What seems like a fairly simple task is one that is usually followed by plenty of difficulties, overthinking, and often even a poor execution. Luckily, we have the hottest costume ideas of the year provided right here.

1.) Lil Nas X

Given his ridiculously outlandish on-stage style, Lil Nas X is the perfect personality to dress up as for Halloween. Basically, just find the brightest-colored cowboy or cowgirl costume you can find and make sure it has a lot of tassels and rhinestones. For extra measure, a friend could do the same outfit and take up the role of Billy Ray Cyrus for the “Old Town Road” remix.

2.) Donald Trump

Who better to dress up as for the scariest day of the year than the commander-in-chief? Trump’s unique appearance and mannerisms have made him a crowd favorite costume idea since before even stepping foot in the White House. A plain suit and a red tie will suffice for the costume, but to go the extra mile some rub-on spray tan on the face and a blonde wig would complete the transformation into the most powerful and controversial individual in the country.

3.) Pennywise the Clown from “IT”

Since Bill Skasrsgård gripped that handful of red balloons and echoed his evil laugh through the minds of millions in the first “IT” film, the murderous clown has become one of the most popular Halloween costumes today. If the clown itself wasn’t scary enough for you, make sure to have a few of those red balloons nearby, as even the sight of them alone in the modern day is enough to make anyone who has seen the film shudder for a moment.

4.) The doppelgängers from “Us”

Another creepy group to encroach itself on the minds of moviegoers worldwide, the group of evil doppelgängers from “Us” are a simple yet creepily effective set of costumes for someone to pull off solo or with a group of friends. All that is really needed for this simple outfit is a deep red jumpsuit, a pair of scissors, and a dead yet evil look in your eyes.

5.) Eleven from “Stranger Things”

Arguably one of the most popular shows on the planet, Eleven from “Stranger Things” is its most iconic character. Short hair is a plus for this costume, but like anything, there are ways around that. Other than that all that's needed is a one-piece nightgown and a tube of fake blood for the iconic nosebleed the character always exhibits when using her powers.

6.) The Jonas Brothers

After one of the biggest comebacks of 2019, who wouldn’t want to dress up as the three brothers from New Jersey? This costume is a very subjective one as the three have had many notable outfits throughout their career, but three friends dressed boldly holding instruments/microphones of some sort is enough to pass as the “Sucker” musicians.

7.) Kanye West

One name that can’t ever seem to escape headlines is Kanye West. West epitomizes a pop culture icon, and a costume embodying him is a great way to channel one of the most famous names in modern music. West dresses very simply, so to pull off a current look of his basically all that is needed is baggy sweatpants, a baggy sweatshirt (usually emblazoned with some logo of his) and a pair of chunky sneakers.

8.) Fortnite player

Given that it is the hottest video game on the planet, we’d be remiss to not mention the prospect of dressing up as a member of the military, carry a pick-ax, and execute cringe-y dance moves. A Fortnite costume is a simple, yet effective dress choice and one that most gamers today will recognize almost instantly.

9.) Lil Uzi Vert

Another one of the most outlandishly dressed individuals on the planet, rapper Lil Uzi Vert has created a personality and look wholly his own, and for the right person that can be channeled into a ridiculously culturally-apt costume. Another subjective costume, basically cover yourself in designer logos (you can draw them on, we won’t tell), carry a wad of (fake) money, and take copious amounts of outfit photos.

10.) Jules from “Euphoria”

“Euphoria” quickly became one of the most talked-about TV sensations of the modern-day, and Jules from the show has a look that is simply unique to her. Donning all white and a pair of angel wings normally would just have the context of simply that, an angel, but thanks to this show permeating almost every aspect of teenage pop culture in 2019, you’d likely be more quickly recognized as Jules than her heavenly counterpart.
