The Ramapo men’s ice hockey team had a phenomenal weekend, grabbing two regulation division wins against Stony Brook and Fairfield. The Roadrunners remain undefeated in regulation this season, putting up a 7-0-1-1 record, including impressive wins against Farmingdale and Fairfield.

Beginning with Friday night’s win against Stony Brook, Ramapo completely dominated throughout the night and won 9-0. Ramapo registered an insane 81 shots on goal, a season high, compared to Stony Brook’s nine shots. Goalie Paul Fiorello registered Ramapo’s first shutout of the season, aided by his outstanding defense that limited any opportunities Stony Brook attempted to create.

Alternate captain Christopher Dressler posted a hat trick, scoring once in each period, as captain Luke Campomenosi and alternate captain Eddie Dahdah each scored two goals. In addition to the captains, forward Eric Frieman and defenseman Rick Kimble added a goal apiece, contributing to the Roadrunner’s second largest margin of victory this season.

Moving on to the bigger game of the weekend, the Roadrunners headed to Fairfield to face off against the 11-4-1 Stags. Ramapo got out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period courtesy of two goals from Dressler and one from forward Rory Maurer. However, Fairfield quickly struck back, tying the game at three in the span of two minutes.

Ramapo was then able to take a 5-3 lead courtesy of Thomas Moskal scoring his seventh goal of the year and Peter Paszkiel scoring his first goal for the team on a power play. Fairfield tightened up the game midway through the third period with a goal from Michael Pitocchelli, but an empty netter from Dahdah eventually led to a 6-5 victory.

Dahdah continued his fantastic season this weekend, tallying five points in the two games giving him 22 total for the season, including two or more points in eight of the nine games Ramapo has played this season. Right on Dahdah’s tail is Dressler, whose six-point weekend brings him up to 20 total points this season.

The weekend saw the return of both Paszkiel, who missed the game at Brown due to an illness, and Gary Ragusa, who hasn’t played since Nov. 6 due to a neck injury.

“Everyone showed up and did their job this weekend and it got us four points,” said Campomenosi when asked about the successful weekend. “That was our first big win on the road and I think we are all excited to get back on the road next weekend and keep this momentum going.”

Looking ahead, Ramapo will play one more game before a month-long break as school is out of session. The final game of the calendar year will be at Farmingdale State College on Dec. 11. The game will be available to watch via livestream on the Ramapo Ice Hockey YouTube page.
