The men and women’s swim teams hosted the College of Staten Island for their third meet of the season on Saturday. The women’s team won by a score of 141-74 and the men’s team won 139-99.

“The team’s swimming well, swimming faster than we’ve ever swam this time of year. We trained; we changed the training regimen for the team so everything we gear towards is two big meets in the year, The Franklin and Marshall Invitational on November 21, 22 and 23 in Lancaster, PA,” said Ramapo’s ninth year head coach Gary Orr. “We’ll be down there with 12 teams including the number 10 team in the country, Steven’s Tech, and then we get back into it in meets and then we gear towards the end of the year at the Metropolitan Conference Championships at the end of February.

On the women’s side, senior captain Lauren Keller won the 200 yard freestyle event with an official time of 2:00.88. Junior freestyle Devan Swistack was not far behind with a third place finish with an official time of 2:13.23

With the win over the College of Staten Island, both Roadrunners teams will want to build their confidence as they head on the road to take on the University of Scranton for a 1 p.m. meet on Nov. 15.

“We have a sports psychologist, Dr. Robert Gilbert, coming in on the 14th, the day before the meet. He was here just recently at the school. He’ll be coming in to talk to the team” Orr said. “The Scranton meet is probably I’d say our biggest dual meet of the year, it’s going to be a knock down, drag out fight on both the men and women’s sides.”
