Top Majors Offered at Ramapo

Forbes recently released a list of "Top Degrees For Getting Hired In 2015." The top three were finance, accounting and computer science, all of which are offered at Ramapo College.

Junior accounting student Andrew Dick said, “I love my major. It’s OK here at Ramapo. Some of the professors can be a little weak with teaching, but the program here is alright.”

The information for this list was compiled using the data from a recent National Association of Colleges and Employers survey, which asked participating companies their plans for hiring 2015 graduating students. Nearly 300 companies responded, including Kimberly-Clark and Chevron. The result was three different charts: the top jobs in demand after college with students with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and a Ph.D. The top three degrees that employers want with a bachelor’s or master’s degree are accounting, finance and computer science. The top three degrees that employers want with a Ph.D are chemical engineering, electrical engineering and computer engineering.

“I’m happy with my major, but the school has an okay program,” said finance major Ryan Hopp. “They don’t really prepare you; some of the classes that are electives I feel should be mandatory classes. Also if we had more time, the professor may be able to go in depth in their classes.”
