Teachers March to Birch Mansion for Contract Negotiations

Faculty and staff gathered yesterday to demonstrate in favor of a settled contract. Since last year, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union has been negotiating with the state unsuccessfully. After marching to Birch Mansion, a few members met with President Peter Mercer to ask for an official statement in support from the College, though Mercer said the teachers and the administration “are on different sides of the table.” Mercer said he will be meeting with some members of the ADT tomorrow to discuss the issue.
