The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) hosted a tabling event to raise awareness on human trafficking last Tuesday, with Violence Intervention Peer (VIP) Jordyn Arkhurst sharing the information.
The table had facts regarding what human trafficking is, how to protect yourself and others, warning signs of trafficking and more.
“It’s not really being talked about in our current political climate,” Arkhurst said.
She stressed the importance of keeping people aware of the signs of trafficking to protect yourselves and the people around you.
There were also questions students could answer to win small prizes or candy, such as, “Where is trafficking most common in the U.S.?” and “How might young people be lured into a trafficking situation?”
Resources besides from OVP provided on the poster included Title IX, Counseling Services and Health Services numbers.
