Roadrunners Finish Fourth in Conference Championship

The Ramapo College cross-country team finished the 2012 season strong as both the men's and women's team finished fourth at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship held last Saturday at Richard Stockton College.

The men's cross-country team combined for 74 points on the day, led by junior Colin English and senior Tim Paziora. 

English led the Roadrunners in the 8K, running a personal best (25:41.09) and placing fourth overall in the tournament. Paziora also ran a personal best (25:55.17), placing seventh overall, and both he and English were named to the NJAC All- Conference first team. 

The women's cross-country team matched the men, placing fourth overall with a combined 98 points. 

The Roadrunners were led junior Courtney Schofield, who placed 12th overall (23:45.01) in the 6K while receiving NJAC All-Conference second team honors. 

"I was happy with my performance overall," Schofield said. "It was an improvement from last year so I was very pleased with that. I have been working hard all season, so it was nice to see it all come together."

Junior Lindsey McKee and freshman Brianna Springsteadah rounded out the Roadrunners' attack, placing22nd (24:03.54) and 23rd (24:09.80).

While the season has come to a gratifying close for most of Ramapo's cross-country athletes, English andPaziora have been given the opportunity to extend their season.

For their performances, English and Paziora also qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in Rochester, N.Y., held on Nov. 10, where they will fight for a chance to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 17.
