Beginning this weekend, the George T. Potter Library will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Saturday. Previously, Saturday hours ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“I did a manual survey in the library in December and all the students I spoke to wanted a change in the Saturday hours,” said senior Mathieu Odula, the library liaison for the Student Government Association.
With the old hours, students were forced to wake up earlier to take full advantage of the library’s weekend resources. Now, students can afford to sleep later and spend more time in the library into the evening.
“The majority of [students] liked my proposal of 11 a.m to 7 p.m., and the dean was supportive of that,” Odula said.
On Saturdays, research assistance will be available from noon to 4 p.m. via online chat, text, email, telephone or in-person in the library.
