The Roadrunners hit a detour leading up to postseason play, losing both games of a doubleheader to the Kean University Cougars on Saturday.
Ramapo suffered its worst loss of the season during the opening matchup, falling 18-2. Kean registered 20 hits and put the game out of reach with a nine-run sixth inning against Ramapo's bullpen.
Senior Frank Baldini suffered his first loss of the season after surrendering five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Sophomore Chris Werr scored both of Ramapo's runs.
While the Roadrunners' offense woke up in the latter portion of the doubleheader, they could not avenge the first loss to their New Jersey Athletic Conference foe. Kean jumped to an 8-5 lead after crossing the plate five times in the fourth inning, and Ramapo fell one run shy of completing a comeback in a 8-7 defeat.
Four Ramapo players tallied two hits in the second game, including junior Brandon Berger, who drove in three runs. Senior Jimmy Knight tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
Ramapo bounced back to defeat Purchase College by a score of 13-6 on Tuesday to improve its record to 23-8-1.
