THE WEEKLY GRIND: Get in Touch

Here at The Ramapo News, innovation is our middle name. (Well, that might be a stretch, but it has certainly felt like that lately with all of our recent changes and improvements!)

A few weeks ago, I posted about our new Viewpoints section online that gives campus clubs and organizations a space to reach our readers using blogs, and that initiative is already underway with SGA Today" and "Greek Speak." While this option is currently only available to groups, we're now launching an easier, more direct way to hear from individuals like you.

The Ramapo News recognizes the importance of our readers, and we are increasingly focusing on your interests and ideas. Just because we don't rely on your subscription money doesn't mean we don't care about what the community wants or needs! So, we've created a better way for you to tell us exactly that. Introducing… "Your Thoughts."

Do you have an event you want us to check out? A news tip you'd like us to explore? What about some comments you want to share with us in a Letter to the Editor? It's easier than ever before to do all of these things, and more, with our quick and simple form. The button to do so is on every page of our site.

Now, you don't have to know one of the staff members to inquire about sending us a press release. You don't have to go out of your way to email us a letter. Just put down your name, email address and phone number, and then, as the page says, put in your two cents! Every submission is reviewed individually by an editor, and we'll follow up if need be.

In today's journalism business, it isn't enough just to "do the news." A good media outlet fosters a relationship with the community, provides information across multiple platforms, adapts to a changing cultural and societal landscape, and most importantly, prioritizes its readers above all. I'd like to think we're working to do so.

What else is new on our site? Another super cool button that better connects you to us by enrolling you in our email newsletter. We'll send you breaking news updates, as well as occasional roundups of our web content. Be sure to sign up if you haven't done so already.

More is to come, as always! Stay tuned for even more initiatives like these that we're rolling out in the near future.

That's all the news for now-Nicole
