Ramapo Ranked Fourth by Rehabs.com for Arson Incidents in 2012

A recent Rehabs.com poll ranked Ramapo College number four on its list for number of arson incidents in 2012.

The poll was featured in a Huffington Post article. Its rankings were based on the amount of arson incidents per thousand students that attend each school.

Ramapo's website defines arson as, "Any willful or malicious burning or attempt to burn, with or without intent to defraud, a dwelling house, public building, motor vehicle or aircraft, personal property of another, etc."

The Ramapo College Clery Report, which is published on the Ramapo website, indicates that five instances of arson occurred in campus dorms during 2012.

Of the five arsons reported, two occurred in the Village, one occurred in Mackin and two occurred in the CPAs. The total property damage of the arsons ranged from $0 to $100.  The damage from arson that occurred in the Palm CPA in March 2012 has still yet to be determined.

Dennis Harrington, fire safety officer at Ramapo College, declined to comment or give any further details on the arson incidents.
