SLIDESHOW: Men’s Tennis Team Defeats Rutgers

The men’s tennis team earned their second Greater Northeast Athletic Conference match of the season Saturday with a 8-1 win over the Rutgers Newark Scarlet Raiders at home.

Ramapo earned wins in first and second singles, but Rutgers Newark junior Derence Tejero topped Ramapo senior Miles Murphy 7-6, 7-6 in third singles. Ramapo senior Evan Clayton earned a 6-2, 7-5 win in first singles, and junior Jacob Khodakov won second singles 6-1, 6-0.

In fourth singles, Ramapo freshman Justin Bevilacqua earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory, and junior John Seaman 6-2, 6-3 win at fifth singles. Freshman Phillip Fuster earned the final singles point for the Roadrunners with a 6-3, 6-0 win.   

The Roadrunners swept all three rounds of doubles as Clayton and Seaman won 8-3 and Khodakov and Bevilacqua won first and second doubles, respectively. Fuster and Murphy wrapped up the day with a 8-1 win in the third round of doubles.

With the match win, the Roadrunners improve to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC.
