Last week was Hazing Awareness Week, organized by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The week started with a table stationed in the C-wing underpass where students could sign a hazing prevention pledge. On Tuesday, keynote speaker Travis Apgar gave a speech entitled “Hazing: The Fallout.” The presentation focused on the destructive nature of hazing. Wednesday brought about a webinar panel presented by Campuspeak that gave students the chance to hear the stories of others who have been negatively affected by hazing. A candlelit vigil was held on Thursday in memory of those who have died due to hazing. The week ended as it began, with students given the opportunity to pledge “These hands don’t haze.”
