Domination was an understatement when referring to how the women’s volleyball team performed this past weekend.

The Roadrunners breezed through their double-header against Cairn University and Emmanuel College Saturday, earning two big wins, improving to 2-1 on the season.

The first bout of the doubleheader was against Cairn, where the Roadrunners proved too much for their opponent, finishing them three sets to none.

The combined score of the sets was 75-15 (25-3, 25-8, 25-4).

The Roadrunners hit a combined .571 as a team, recording 32 kills on 49 attempts, making only four errors.

Sophomore outside hitter Larysa Iwaskiw, the 2014 Division III Metro/Upstate Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year and a member of the ECAC All-Star First Team, picked up right where she left off last season, as she recorded eight points on seven kills and one service ace.

Senior outside hitter Cathryn Smart also added six kills in the match, while senior setter Nicole Herrmann led the Roadrunners with 18 assists.

Libero and senior co-captain Emily Harris led the team with nine digs in the game against the Highlanders of Cairn University, while junior Natalia Saavedra led the team with 10 points and seven service aces.

More of the same was found in the Roadrunners’ second match against Emmanuel College, as they took down their opponent in straight sets 25-17, 25-14 and 25-21. Iwaskiw again led the charge finishing the match scoring 22 points. She also tallied 15 kills, seven service aces and 11 digs on the defensive end.

Junior Emily Guzman, middle blocker, also had 11 points off of eight kills, while freshman outside hitter Judy Errichetti finished the match with six kills of her own.

Harris led the team on defense with 17 digs, while setter and senior co-captain Kaitlin MacIver dished out a team high 25 assists and also tallied seven digs.

The Roadrunners exuded their dominance yesterday as they defeated Mount Saint Mary College in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-13) at the Bradley Center and moved to 3-1 on the season. They have now won their last nine sets.

The Roadrunners will host the Roadrunner Invitational as SUNY Potsdam, Ithaca College, Saint Joseph’s College of Long Island, New Paltz and Scranton will all try to take home the crown at the Bradley Center.

Ramapo will look to win their fourth straight game tomorrow as they take on the Bears of SUNY Potsdam.
