Ramapo College’s Cahill Career Development Center hosted the 2017 Spring Career Fair, the largest career fair in Ramapo’s history on March 9. The Bradley Center Arena was filled with over 120 employers and recruiting professionals from a variety of industries to speak with Ramapo students about available internship and entry-level opportunities. The Cahill Career Center executed an extensive outreach campaign to recruit and establish new employer relationships.

Beth Ricca, Director of the Cahill Center, commented on the success of the fair, “we are grateful to the Athletics Department for the use of the Bradley Center. The new venue allowed for a record number of employers who were extremely pleased with the career fair this year. We have heard from a number of students who have interviews as a result of this event.”

Many employers commented on the level of professionalism of the student attendees. In anticipation of the event, the Cahill Career Center held workshops on how to properly prepare for a career fair and on effective resume development. Many students heeded the advice and visited the Cahill Career Center to have their resumes critiqued and practice their elevator pitches.

An employer who has been recruiting at Ramapo since 2008 commented in an anonymous survey, “I’m always impressed by the quality of the students at Ramapo.”

In addition to a record number of employers attending the fair, graduating seniors came out in particularly large numbers to get started on their job prospects after graduation.

Emily Buske, a senior business administration student, was excited about the number of employers at the career fair, “I felt like a kid in a candy shop!”

Also attending the fair were first-year students, sophomores, juniors, graduate students and alumni looking to make valuable employer connections.

Brian Gural, a second year biology student said, “The career fair provided me with the opportunity to meet with professionals in my field and examine opportunities for my future.”

Nicole Videla, Assistant Director/Career Advisor, would like to remind students to check the Archway postings and schedule an appointment with their career advisor for guidance on exploring available internship and job opportunities.  For further information on upcoming events, students should visit the Archway.
