Now that election season is finally coming to a close and Democratic candidate Joe Biden is our new president-elect, it’s time for us all to relax and listen to some needed festive music.

While 2020 was a rough year, for the most part, Biden’s victory has resurrected hope in minority groups across the country. Check out the songs that will help you soak up this win, and add them to your celebratory playlist.

If you’re looking for songs that give a toast to our country replacing a hateful leader with a real politician, listen to these popular tunes that are currently being played in videos across social media:

  • “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus
  • “We are the Champions” by Queen
  • “Break Free” by Ariana Grande
  • “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga
  • “Hard Times” by Paramore

President Donald Trump is not taking this loss very lightly, and he is falsely asserting that this election is “rigged.” So in response to this, the fitting messages of these songs will drown out his false claims and lies that are playing on your television:

  • “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam
  • “you should see me in a crown” by Billie Eilish
  • “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles
  • “you broke me first” by Tate McRae
  • “shut up” by Ariana Grande

While we celebrate, we must remember the hardships that many people had to overcome due to the bigotry that was supported in the White House for the past four years. Check out the songs below that recognize that:

  • “This is America” by Childish Gambino
  • “Commander in Chief” by Demi Lovato
  • “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar
  • “Stick to Your Guns” by Watsky ft. Julia Nunes
  • “C7osure” by Lil Nas X

And for fun, add these singles that will make your happy dance even happier:

  • “Fake” by Lauv and Conan Gray
  • “Wonder” by Shawn Mendes
  • “Pleaser” by Wallows
  • “Feeling Myself” by Nicki Minaj ft. Beyonce
  • “Teenagers” by My Chemical Romance

Remember: this is a crucial time in our nation’s history, and we are living in it. Biden’s win is a win for the climate, the physically and mentally disadvantaged, and those that are misrepresented in our government. Feel free to enjoy yourself with some upbeat tunes in these final months of madness, because on Jan. 20, 2021, this will change for the better.
