Women’s soccer team crushed by TCNJ

On Saturday, the Ramapo College women’s soccer team was defeated 6-0 at home by The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Going into this game, TCNJ was ranked No. 16 in both the D3Soccer.com Top 25 and United Soccer Coaches Top 25 polls.

TCNJ held a 25-4 shot on goal advantage over Ramapo, including seven corner kicks compared to Ramapo’s one. The Roadrunners’ goalie, Emma Conlan, recorded 19 saves throughout the game.

Each of the Lions’ goals were scored by different players. In the first half, Lindsay O’Keefe, Gianna Minerva and Ivonne Vasquez all scored for TCNJ to make it 3-0. Emma Pascarella, Sophie Vieira and Ella Van Dine each put in goals to extend their lead, 6-0, in the second half.

“TCNJ is always a top team in our conference and despite not getting the results we wanted on Saturday, we did learn a lot about what improvements we need to make going forward,” said midfielder Sam Ingannamorte. “Continuing to focus on the connection between offense and defense is going to be crucial to our success on the field. Since preseason, we have made so much progress as a unit and we are all extremely confident in our abilities for our upcoming NJAC games.”

Ramapo moves to 3-3 overall on the season and 0-1 in the NJAC with this loss. They play again on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. at home against undefeated Montclair State University in another conference match-up. Montclair State is currently 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in the conference after defeating Stockton University on Wednesday.
