Women’s soccer takes loss against Rowan

The women’s soccer team suffered a 7-0 loss to Rowan University on Friday. This was the Roadrunners’ sixth game in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) this season, with a 0-5-1 record in those games. 

The first goal of the game was scored by Rowan sophomore forward Olivia Giordano with an assist from sophomore midfielder Ava Morales. Rowan would go on to score four goals during the first half of the match. During the second half, Rowan scored three goals. All together, the Profs attempted 25 shots, 16 of which were shots on goal. 

The Roadrunners took two shots during the second half of the game, the first attempt was by freshman defender Victoria Garcia. The second shot the Roadrunners attempted was from Eleni Polizos, senior defender and midfielder. 

Rowan’s Junior forward Mackenzie Clement recorded a hat trick, including scoring twice in the second half. The three goals by Clement now give her 13 total goals on the season.

Despite the lopsided defeat, Ramapo’s freshman goalkeeper Gabby Matias had an impressive game in net. Matias played for the entirety of the game and managed to record nine saves out of the 16 attempted shots on goal by Rowan between each half.

Rowan is currently undefeated with this win, adding to their streak. They stand 10-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference. 

The Roadrunners now stand at 2-9-1 overall. They will play their final two games of the season this week, the first of which will be Senior Night against Stockton University on Saturday and finishing up with a trip to Wayne to face William Paterson University on Wednesday night.
