Season two of Marvel’s ‘Loki’ pulls fans in

Our infamous god of mischief concludes his ultimate purpose as the second season of Disney Plus’ exclusive show “Loki” has come to an end, leaving fans wanting more. Airing on Oct. 5, this Marvel spinoff series regained the attention of diehard Marvel fans and Loki fans alike, transforming the following into so much more.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, “Loki” has an audience score of 86% and has exceeded expectations for Marvel despite being the first and only recent Marvel show that has received a second season. It was well received with the epic ending for the season that leaves fans looking to the newly released Marvel films for comfort.

This season is full of surprises, newfound friendships and a brilliant ending that will have all Marvel fans anxiously waiting in hopes for a season three.

The second season of the show focuses on Loki (Tom Hiddleston) working with his friends Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and other members of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to travel through the multiverse to find Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) in order to maintain the order of time.

This show is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that follows and furthers the storyline of several films inside the franchise like “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War” which all tie into the branches of time and how the multiverse works. This is a show that will take a little bit to get into, but once you’re in, you will be pulled into a world that is all encompassing.

There will be spoilers mentioned below, so read ahead at your own risk!

As a longtime fan of everything Marvel and Loki himself, I was really impressed with how they developed this season and its finale. Everything came together in the end and everything was set back to the way it was supposed to be. However, I do feel that while we did get to where we needed to be, it felt a bit rushed and the special moments in the finale felt a little bit washed over.

There were short bursts of interaction between the characters and then it would skip to an entirely different scene. It made me feel like it was a little all over the place and not displaying any real emotion. It felt as if the characters were racing around trying to solve everything for unseen reasons, leaving the relationships built over the last season to fall a little flat.

Despite the rushed finale, I really enjoyed watching everything come together and surprise me with how everything was going to end. Going into the season I had an idea in mind of how everything would turn out, but as I got more and more into the season I realized that I had predicted everything wrong and the one thing that I did not want to happen happened.

What made the season come to such an exhilarating and heart wrenching ending was Loki finally fulfilling his purpose and putting his former title of “God of Mischief” to rest and becoming the “God of Stories.” Throughout the MCU, Loki has been seen as a villain who will do anything to get what he wants. Now, with his new sacrifice to save his friends and the fate of the whole universe by serving himself with an eternity of isolation, Loki has redeemed himself in all the ways that it counts, even if it means he will be alone.

This season is full of surprises, newfound friendships and a brilliant ending that will have all Marvel fans anxiously waiting in hopes for a season three. The finale does a great job setting up for future Marvel films and will hopefully carry through the same powerful experience when watching the show.

If you are interested in anything Marvel or Loki, then you need to watch season two of Loki. This show regains the old magic from the MCU and has turned those that despised Loki into fans. Loki has created a new cult following for such an amazing character that has gone through such an amazing character growth journey, making him, might I say, one of the best characters in the MCU.
