Beyoncé releases two new singles during Super Bowl commercial

“Renaissance: Act II” begins as Beyoncé debuts two new singles, “16 CARRIAGES” and “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” in the middle of the Super Bowl, leaving the entire world speechless.

Members of the ever-loyal Beyhive have been anticipating an announcement since it was teased that Verizon would have an ad play during the Super Bowl that involved Beyoncé and her beloved horse, Reneigh. Shortly after Usher’s halftime performance, the ad aired and showed the singer trying to “break Verizon” by doing various internet-breaking tasks.

From going live on Twitch to performing in outer space, she couldn’t find the perfect way to break the internet until she mentioned dropping new music. Almost instantly, the two singles dropped on Tidal, YouTube and all streaming platforms, and fans could hear what they’d been patiently waiting for.

“TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” is easily my favorite of the two singles, despite not being a huge country fan. I speculated that she would have country undertones in her music after seeing her iconic Louis Vuitton look at the Grammys, accompanied by a white Stetson on her head. It’s the perfect feel-good, windows-down country song that feels close to home and leaves you wanting more.

Coming from Houston, it’s no surprise that Beyoncé absolutely nailed the sound, and if you love “Daddy Lessons” from “Lemonade,” you will surely enjoy this one! Even with the subtle reference to one of the most popular poker variations, I could never deny her ability to write and to never miss a beat.

Beyoncé is sure to rise to the occasion every single time, and with her highly-anticipated return to music on March 29, I cannot wait to see what she has in store for fans everywhere!
