‘Willy’s Chocolate Experience’ leaves guests underwhelmed and disturbed

The internet has quickly rushed to make posts about an immersive Willy Wonka experience that took place in Glasgow, Scotland this week. These posts have stemmed from event goers sharing how they were left displeased and shocked over the event’s turnout.

Event goers have shared that the venue looked nothing like the promotional images on the official website. The website seems to include AI-generated images instead of what the event was actually like. What looked like a fun and happy experience for all ages turned into a disappointing and strange reality.

Other than that, the official website stated that “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” was supposed to provide “a chocolate fantasy like never before,” although according to people who attended, no chocolate was served at the event.

The event also included employees dressed as odd characters, such as “The Unknown” who is a made up character that is not in the original book or movies. Another picture started circulating of one of the Oompa Loompas, who looked like they were not having a good time while working the event.

Many took to X to make different posts joking about the event and the characters involved. One user @drawckie on X made a post saying, “The depressed Oompa Loompa and the Unknown are the perfect Halloween couples costumes,” and included fan art they had made of the two characters.

Users have also been mixing these characters with already existing memes, like @BenedictTown on X who shared “Pete Davidson has been spotted stepping out with The Unknown from the Glasgow Willy Wonka experience” and included a Photoshopped image of Pete Davidson and The Unknown walking together.

Many of the employees who played these characters have since taken to TikTok and X to also share their views of the event. Paul Connell who played “Willy Wonka” in the experience stated in a TikTok, “I was told that every 45 minutes we would get a 15-minute break, that didn’t happen. I was playing Willy Wonka for nearly four hours straight.”

“Willy’s Chocolate Experience” proved overall to be disappointing, the most that came out of it was some new memes.
