Alex Warren, a popular TikTok creator, released a new song called “Troubled Waters,” on Sept. 6. Included with the new release was a brand new music video featuring Warren’s new wife, Kouvr Annon, on a boat in the open water.
The lyrics are where it begins to hit home. Warren created an upbeat fast-tempo song while conveying heartfelt lyrics based on his at-the-time girlfriend, Kouvr. On his online platform, Warren shares that he wrote the song while he was living in his car and he thought his girlfriend was leaving. His struggles were demonstrated in the lyrics.
Throughout the song he states, “Won’t you tell me that you’re still holdin’ on? / And I don’t wanna push you away / Woah, say you won’t / Let me drown in troubled waters, drown in troubled waters alone.”
With the song being so brand new, Warren is seeing over two million listens through Spotify and reaching number 118 on Shazam’s Top Songs in Finland. With his online platform, Warren could expect more streams and higher chart results in the upcoming weeks.
The vulnerability of the song and the chance of losing love was the main focus. Warren was going through a tough situation and wasn’t sure if the people around him would stick around. The song can bring more heightened emotions with the deeper meaning behind the lyrics.
Warren’s music shows his vulnerability to the people that are closest to him. He has a theme of referencing someone important to him in every song. This different side of him that he might not show online can set him apart from other artists. Warren created a song that anyone could relate to at any given moment to make them feel like they are not alone.
