On Saturday, the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams took to Manhattan College to compete in the Jasper Fall XC Invite at Twin Ponds on the Farm.
The men raced in the 8k Open Race and placed second overall. Junior Ryan Pena clocked in at 26:25.9, earning him a first-place finish. Senior Mohamed Nidaazzi and freshman Nico Tucci finished at 27:57.3 and 28:34.7, respectively, obtaining three spots in the top ten for Ramapo, with Nidaazzi in fifth and Tucci in 10th.
Sophomores Brandon Meneses and Jose Espinal were not far behind, with Meneses finishing in 11th place at 28:38 and Espinal securing 13th place with a time of 29:07.5.
The women competed in the 6k Open Race and were able to obtain five top-ten finishes. Senior Zoey Cassavell took first place at 24:19.2 with freshman Gianna Penyak close behind in second place with a time of 24:21.2.
Sophomore Zoe Gregory ran a time of 25:04, earning 5th place. The next Roadrunner to place in the top ten was freshman Elena Guzman, who took seventh place at 25:45.2. Sophomore Kiera Gregory secured the last top ten spot for Ramapo with a time of 26:11.4 for eighth place.
Both teams will head to the College of New Jersey this Friday, September 20, for the Herb Lorenz Invitational.
