Ramapo Women’s Soccer suffered a 2-0 defeat against Union College in their game last Saturday. The Roadrunners are now 2-4-1 in their overall season.
Union dominated the field with 11 shots on goal throughout the game, against Ramapo’s single shot on goal. Amber Maher, midfielder for Ramapo, took one shot on goal in the second half with 52 minutes on the clock. Lauren Orr, Morgan Korinchak and Ines Turner also collectively produced three shots during the match.
Anabelle Thomas, forward for Union, scored her first goal 36 minutes into the first half with an assist from Addison MacDonald. Thomas scored another goal in the second half with 71 minutes on the clock, this time unassisted. Thomas also contributed 5 out of 21 total shots for Union in 48 minutes of play.
Gabby Matias, goalie for the Roadrunners, played all 90 minutes in College Field Park. She delivered nine saves throughout the entire game against Union’s offense. The sophomore has played for 260 minutes in goal over the course of the team’s seven games this season and over 750 minutes during her career with Ramapo.
The Garnet Chargers were able to command possession of the ball throughout the game. They outnumbered the Roadrunners in corner kicks with a final tally of 7-1. However, Union contributed more fouls than Ramapo with an ending mark of 10-8, as well as committing four offsides calls compared to Ramapo’s zero.
Ramapo will next play against Rutgers-Camden University at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27th as a part of NJAC. The game can be watched in-person at the Camden Athletic Complex in Camden, NJ.
