Australian singer The Kid LAROI has been dropping singles left and right, and on Oct. 11 he released “APEROL SPRITZ.”
LAROI, who’s real name is Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, has two previous albums, “THE FIRST TIME” and “F*CK LOVE 3+: OVER YOU,” as well as a plethora of singles. Both albums are full of great songs and the singles are awesome, so I was very excited for “APEROL SPRITZ.” Spoiler alert — it did not disappoint.
While it is not as deep and poetic as some of his other songs, there is no denying that “APEROL SPRITZ” is catchy — and it is no doubt an ode to pop-star girlfriend Tate McRae.
McRae and Howard sparked dating rumors in early 2024, and the two have since become a lovely couple in the industry.
The song begins with, “I drink Henn’, she drink Aperol Spritz / Ayy, girl, I promise you ain’t had it like this (Ayy) / There’s a whole lotta girls up in here, but / Can’t nobody fuck with my bitch.” Clearly, he thinks highly of McRae.
This is even more evident in the second verse, where he sings, “And I know you out with friends, but I promise, baby, ain’t shit changed (Oh, yeah, yeah) / And I ain’t seen you in so long, but it’s worth every minute I wait / Take you shoppin’, I’ma spend it on you just for love.” Here, he’s essentially saying that spending money on her is done out of love, not just out of desire or to show-off.
While the song is a bit redundant, given that it is only a little over two-minutes long, I think it works. It’s short, sweet and backed by a fun beat. I will definitely have this song on repeat for the next few weeks.
