On Oct. 19, the Ramapo College women’s swimming team flooded Baruch College, 139-97. This bumped Ramapo up to 2-1 overall.
At the start of the meet, a team consisting of Isabella Hanson, Grace Korey, Valeria Pages and Cami Yovich, won the 200 medley relay with a combined time of 1:58.94.
Alazne Sudupe won the 1,000 freestyle, reaching the wall in 11:24.91. Meanwhile, Korey and Pages scored times of 2:06.98 and 2:07.72 respectively in the 200 freestyle, going 1-2. In the 100 breaststroke, Korey won in 1:13.91 while Camila Mercado grabbed second in 1:14.17 and Maddy Joe seized third in 1:24.22.
Sudupe won the 200 fly in 2:22.24 while Sovannary Taylor won both the 50 free in 26.33 seconds and the 100 free in 58.84 seconds. Yovich placed second in both the 50 free and 100 free with times of 27.00 seconds and 59.35 seconds respectively.
In the 200 backstroke, Hanson won in 2:20.36 while Mairin Huston placed third in 2:25.82. Korey won in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:37.90, while Sudupe won in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:43.71.
As for the Ramapo men’s swimming team, the Baruch Bearcats won with 138.5-123.5.
Adam Wright, Joseph Swede, Andy Shkolnik and Doruk Evcimen won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:40.38. Evcimen claimed victory by out-touching the Bearcats at the wall.
Wright and Sean Robinson went 1-2 with times of 10:06.80 and 10:39.36 respectively in the 1,000 freestyle.
In the 200 freestyle, Evcimen won in 1:49.02 while Sholknik placed third in 1:56.32. Caleb Baron and Samuel Liao finished 2-3 in the 100 backstroke with times of 1:00.29 and 1:00.78 respectively, while Swede finished third in 1:02.41 in the 100 breaststroke.
Wright won the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.24 and Andrew Guevara placed third in 2:16.46.
In the 50 freestyle, Swede placed second in 23.65 seconds. Meanwhile, Evcimen placed first in the 100 freestyle in 49.55 seconds.
Robinson won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.36 while Evcimen grabbed first place again during the 100 fly in 54.43 seconds.
The Ramapo College swim team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Hartwick College for a tri-meet also consisting of Marywood University.
