Women’s soccer team is on the rise

The Ramapo women’s soccer team broke their losing streak with a 4-0 shutout against SUNY Cobleskill in non-conference action. The girls brought home the win in an offensively dominant game, with 42 shots, including corner kicks, during the game against Cobleskill’s two.

Within the first two minutes, freshman Amanda Barr scored the first goal of the game and her fourth of the season. Barr also contributed a team-leading six shots on goal throughout the game in 72 minutes of playing time. The first half would remain an offensive dream for the Roadrunners, but more points would not be scored until later in the game.

In the second half, sophomore Amber Maher scored the second goal for Ramapo and her fourth goal of the season as well. Despite missing the majority of the first half, Maher matched Barr with another six shots on goal during her 39 minutes of game time.

With just over seven minutes left in the game, freshman Ines Turner came in clutch with a goal directly into the back of Cobleskill’s net, extending the blowout to 3-0. With three shots on goal already during the game, this was Turner’s first goal of the season.

In the final minute of the game, Ramapo seized one more opportunity to make this game remarkable. As time expired off of a free kick, freshman Ajla Brescic scored the fourth goal of the game for Ramapo and her second goal of the year.

This game was an offensive thriller for Ramapo and a fantastic way to end the eight-game losing streak. Ramapo performed 13 corner kicks along with 29 shots on goal, which out shoots any game the girls have played this year.

The Roadrunners split their time between goalies Gabriela Matias and Madison Miskovitz. Miskovitz recorded both saves for Ramapo during the second half.

The girls return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 for their Senior Day game against Rowan University. The game will be played at 7 p.m. on Ramapo’s athletic field turf.
