Addison Rae’s ‘Aquamarine’ is golden with fans

Addison Rae, a well known TikToker, has found her new passion in music, diving into the music scene head-first. This past Friday, Rae released her latest single “Aquamarine” that has fans ready to ride the wave.

Rae rose to fame on TikTok in 2019 doing dance trends with her friends and was one of the co-founders of the TikTok famous “Hype House.” The Hype House was a group of 19 content creators who bought and lived in a house together until 2021 and has since dismantled.

Rae has been breaking her way into the music scene since 2021 with her single “Obsessed” and later her 2023 EP “AR.” However, what has put her on the map was her killer feature on Charli XCX’s “Von dutch” last March. This duo was also present on “AR” with the song “2 die 4” featuring Charli XCX, but “Von dutch” has pushed Rae into the dancy electro pop genre and she’s finally found fans that are loving what she’s releasing.

This past August, Rae released “Diet Pepsi” and it is currently her most listened to song on spotify with 137 hundred million streams, which is even more than the ever-popular “Von dutch” remix. The song is a pop track about summer lovin’ in the backseat of her boyfriend’s car. The song is fun and humorous while also being a serious musical endeavor for Rae.

The latest release of “Aquamarine” proves that Rae has just caught her current and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The song is just as upbeat and fun as “Diet Pepsi,” with a lively pulse and twinkling synths.

The lyrics have an oceanic motif where Rae makes herself seem magical and mermaid-esque. This visual is painted through the lyrics “swimmin’ in the sea with the salt in my hair / kissed by the sun, it’s a love affair / heart of the ocean around my neck.” She even vocalizes beautifully between these sandy and sun-kissed verses that emulates a siren’s song rather effectively.

This song is for anyone whose favorite Disney princess was Ariel and who loved watching “H2O: Just Add Water” in their early teens, then grew up to listen to Caroline Polachek and Arca. If you’re a pop music fan, I would highly recommend checking out Addison Rae, she is definitely one to watch.
