Harris and Trump wrap up their campaigns for upcoming election day

With Election Day being a little over one week away, both candidates, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, have been booked and busy with appearances and interviews to wrap up their presidential campaigns.

Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris has made many appearances on different news outlets and shows in the past few weeks. On Wednesday Oct. 18, Harris made a surprising appearance on Fox News. This interview with Harris was watched by 7.8 million viewers. This means that it is the most-watched interview of the election season so far.

Harris’ recent events held in swing states have had some special celebrity guests to endorse her. With pop star Usher making an appearance in Georgia and Lizzo in Michigan with rapper Eminem introducing Harris and former President Barack Obama. Over the weekend, Beyonce made a speech at Harris’ rally in Houston.

“I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in,” Beyonce said to the crowd.

Donald Trump

About two weeks ago, Trump hosted an event at a town hall in Philadelphia. However, he ended the event by “dancing” for around 40 minutes. Some of the songs he was nodding his head to were, the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.”and Rufus Wainwright’s version of “Hallelujah.” Rolling Stone referred to this as something that “future historians will study frame-by-frame like the Zapruder film, to figure out how America went so wrong.”

On Oct. 10 shortly after the dancing event, Trump insulted the city of Detroit while hosting an event there. At this event, the former President stated “Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s (Harris) your president.” Even throughout the speech, he kept referring to Detroit as a “developing city.” Mayor of Detroit Mike Duggan has since released a statement: “Lots of cities should be like Detroit. And we did it all without Trump’s help.”

Although Trump has been continuously turning down interviews, he has agreed to “serve” food orders. Over the weekend in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump was seen serving fries to customers at a local McDonalds. The event however was allegedly staged, with the McDonald’s location being closed to the public. According to Daily Kos, “the people who Trump handed food orders to were his supporters who were pre-screened by the Secret Service and put in place before Trump arrived.”
