On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) hosted a bracelet making event in their office located in C-216.
Students at the event were given the option to make their own bracelet or contribute a bracelet for the speakers featured for the office’s upcoming Take Back the Night event. The message behind the bracelets were in support of domestic and sexual violence. The bracelets also gave students a chance to look at domestic and sexual violence in a new light.
This event helped raise awareness, empower individuals and inspire action that will bring an end to sexual assault through the art of making bracelets. The bracelets were a part of the week-long kickoff that led up to the Take Back the Night event and gave survivors and students a chance to connect with the campus community in a creative way.
The bracelets were one of the ways that the OVP made the survivors on campus feel empowered and like they are not alone.
