Field hockey plays final match of the 2024 season

Ramapo’s field hockey team finished off their season with a tough 1-4 loss against William Paterson University (WP) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) on Saturday, Nov. 2.

After a scoreless first quarter, freshman Julia Dennehy put in a goal for the Pioneers, assisted by fellow freshman Lauren Rennie. Dennehy scored again in the third quarter, this time with an assist from freshman Julia Menn.

Freshman Alexandra Stoner scored twice in the fourth quarter, the first assisted by Carly Horn and the second with help from Dennehey and Menn. These were Stoner’s third and fourth goals of the season.

Junior Victoria Chavez scored soon after for the Roadrunners, bringing the score to 1-4, but they were ultimately defeated. Senior Michelle Kukan acquired three saves in her last game.

“I am so extremely grateful to have been able to play field hockey for four more years with my teammates,” Kukan said in an interview with The Ramapo News. “Ramapo field hockey has introduced me to the most hardworking girls.” Last game, she recorded a career-high of 22 saves, a wonderful accomplishment for her last year as a Roadrunner.

WPU moves to 3-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference, while Ramapo ends with a record of 3-15 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.
