Ramapo swimming falls to TCNJ in recent meet

The men’s and women’s swim teams faced off against The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Nov. 2. Despite losses from both teams against the Lions, the swimmers still showcased strong performances throughout the meet. 

The men’s team lost to TCNJ by a score of 168-76 and now stand at 1-3 for the season while the Lions remain undefeated at 2-0. Despite the score, the Roadrunners took home many podium trophies for both teams. In the 500 yard freestyle, freshman Adam Wright won first place with a final time of 4:50.16. Freshman Sean Robinson also earned third place in the category with 4:58.66. Robinson also placed in the top three in the 200 yard independent medley with a final time of 2:13.57. 

The women’s team also faced a loss against the Lions, losing by a score of 181-76. Both the Roadrunners and the Lions have balanced records for the season thus far, 3-3 and 1-1 respectively. The women’s team saw many first place winners during the meet against the Lions. Junior Alazne Sudupe won first place in the 200 yard butterfly with a final time of 2:25.97. The women’s team also won first place in the 200 yard freestyle relay, with performances from Camila Mercado, Valeria Pages, Grace Korey and Cameron Yovich. They finished with a final time of 1:49.17, beating out TCNJ by three seconds. 

The Ramapo men’s and women’s swim teams will compete again on the road on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 when they face Misericordia University in their Cougar Splash Invitational.
