Daniel Jones benched
Daniel Jones is no longer the starting quarterback for the New York Giants. Tommy DeVito will replace him in their upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Nov. 24.
Head coach Brian Daboll chose Tommy DeVito over second-string quarterback Drew Lock, but Daniel Jones’ time as the starting quarterback is officially over. Daboll confirmed that Jones will remain with the team for the rest of the season, but is likely unexpected to play.
“Obviously not playing the way any of us want to play, and that on all of us,” Daboll commented.
“But felt like this was a decision that we needed to make here to try to spark things, change things up and we went with Tommy again.” DeVito went 3-3 in his rookie season last year, and soon earned the nickname “Tommy Cutlets” from fans across the Tri-State area.
In his second season with the Giants, DeVito has yet to play during the 2024 season. He has faced over 700 snaps in the preseason, and Daboll affirms that they are thoroughly preparing the fan favorite for his first start.
Jake Paul – Mike Tyson fight
The match of the year finally happened on Nov. 15: Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson. People had been anticipating the fight since it was officially announced on March 7. Many were hoping for Tyson to show off his grit once again after 20 years of retirement.
However, this was not the case. In the ring, Paul proved to be victorious after a full eight rounds. The scores were close with Paul’s 80, 79 and 79 winning against Tyson’s 72, 73 and 73.
During the fight, Paul landed the most hits with a total of 78 punches, 31 jabs and 47 power punches. Meanwhile, Tyson only landed 18 punches, five jabs and 13 power punches.
Paul plans to compete in the SmartCage next year while Tyson, despite showing a stiff performance presumably attributed to his age, has admitted that it might not be his last fight.
Chiefs finally lose
The Kansas City Chiefs faced their first loss of the season against the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday with a final score of 30-21.
The Bills delivered a tremendous performance against the Chiefs, outgaining them by over 100 yards. Josh Allen also secured the game-winning touchdown on fourth-and-2 with two minutes left in the game.
Bills fans at the stadium were ecstatic in the final moments of the game, cheering “MVP!” as Allen celebrated his 26-yard run into the endzone. Teammate Khalil Shakir also shared in the excited for his quarterback.
“When Josh takes off, I find myself just watching, like, ‘Wow, he’s different,’” Shakir said. “When he took off today, I just started yelling. I couldn’t stop yelling. I was blanking in the head.”
The Chiefs were less enthusiastic about their loss, specifically Travis Kelce. “You don’t think about, ‘oh, I really want to win this game so I can remain undefeated,’” Travis said on the New Heights podcasts hosted by him and his brother Jason.
He later continued, “I get fired up playing against the best teams in the NFL and I was fired up for this one — and I didn’t play my best.”
The Chiefs will play against the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday, Nov. 29 at home. The Bills will play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday during prime time.
