The Ramapo College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams appeared in multiple competitions last Saturday. Both teams participated at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The meet did not select any winners, but instead the athletes competed for individual results.

On the same day, a few Roadrunners from the men’s and women’s teams ran in the 5K race at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.

The women’s team did fairly well at the Greyhound Invitational. For the runners, Judanicka Julceus placed sixth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 12.78. Mikayla Sasson placed seventh in the 200-meter race, clocking in at 26.36, just missing the sixth-place runner by 0.4 seconds. Meghan Jozefczyk made it to the top five in the 5000-meter run, placing fourth with a time of 20:39.84.

Ramapo finished in third place out of the nine competing teams for the 4x100-meter relay race. The Roadrunners clocked in with a time of 49.07 seconds. In the 4x400-meter relay, Ramapo claimed the fifth-place spot with a time of 4:16.69.

For the 5K race, two women Roadrunners placed and showed off their skills. Jozefczyk finished fourth overall, clocking in at 20:39.84, and Yesenia Escobar crossed the finish line at 20:51.71, grabbing the sixth-place spot in the same event.

Switching gears to the women’s jumping events, Kristina Langan secured the pole vault victory, clearing 3.80-meters and coming in first place. For the triple jump, Anna Scarpis also snagged the first-place spot, posting a mark of 11.15-meters, while a second Roadrunner, Alyssa Robalino, also placed in this event. She came in tenth place, hitting a mark of 10.08-meters.

Still focusing on the women’s track team, Jennifer Polo finished the 5K race at the Larry Ellis Invitational in 18:10.08.

As mentioned, the men’s outdoor track and field team also competed in the same meets on Saturday.

At the Greyhound Invitational, the men’s team also proved strong in their efforts. Jason Rodriguez came in eighth place overall in the 800-meter race, recording a time of 1:56.89. Only a mere two seconds later, Chris Stephenson posted a 1:58.86 finish time to end in eighteenth place.

Chris Anderson also snagged a win in the 1500-meter run by finishing in just over four minutes.

Another victory for Ramapo was recorded by Joseph Zisa, who came in first place in the 5000-meter dash by clocking in at 15:35.37. In the same event, Gabriel Suarez placed eighth with a time of 16:27.04.

Max Dubac stole the fifth-place spot with a time of 58.08 in the 400-meter hurdles.

As a team, Ramapo came in fourth place overall for the 4x100-meter race, crossing the finish line at 3:25:23, only a mere 0.19 seconds behind the third-place team.

In the jumping events, Eran Peci tied for sixth place, nailing a mark of 3.96-meters.  Unfortunately, Ramapo did not place in the long jump.

At the Larry Ellis Invitational 5K race, two male Roadrunners competed in the

contest. Will McCoy finished with a time of 15:15.71, and about 12 seconds later, Nicholas DeMarco clocked in at 15:27.03.

The men and women outdoor track and field teams will return to action this weekend on Saturday, April 27. The teams are traveling to Ewing, New Jersey for the TCNJ Invitational meet.

In addition, select members from both teams will appear at the 125th Penn Relays. The races will occur from April 25-28.
