Ramapo’s annual “Run with Color” was a hit this year after being pushed off from the Spring season due to weather – though it did rain on some runners after all.

Sunday’s weather wasn’t the image of energy, but the runners and volunteers were. This year, the college had an impressive number of runners, with over 160 participants.

Both students and members of the Ramapo community came out to the event. Many students were accompanied by supporting family members, who were all doused in color by the finish line.

“Good time for a great cause,” said Ramapo parent Tim Clark.

The cause in question is the Ramapo College annual fund, which is used for a variety of college beneficiaries. This includes student scholarships, student-faculty research and other special projects.

While the event is run by the Student Government Association, volunteer groups from Greek life and the Ramapo College trustees also came out to help.

The run itself was a 5k around Ramapo’s campus, with several color stops throughout the route to decorate the runners with vibrant bursts of color.

“It’s a really good cause,” said junior Sam Stolker. “The people throwing the colors made it really fun.”

The powdered colors thrown at runners soon turned to watercolor as the rain began.

“The rain definitely helped,” joked freshman Emma Fooks, who was running with her family.

As runners reached the finish line at the Arch, music from WRPR and goods from SGA were set up for all to enjoy. Despite the rain, not one participant was spotted without a smile on their face.
