Ramapo College women’s volleyball team, ranked #5, had a rough loss against fourth-ranked Montclair State University on Tuesday night.

The 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16) win by Montclair allowed them to advance in the NJAC Tournament and potentially ending Ramapo's season.

The Red Hawks improved to 21-9 overall while the Roadrunners stand at a 13-7 overall record for the year.

Junior outside hitter Hannah Frascella recorded 15 kills and hit .564 in the match which classified her as a leader in the game. Senior outside hitter Morgan Ridgway and senior setter Kate Shirkey followed close behind. Ridgway collected 10 kills and 10 digs while Shirkey tallied a team-high 17 assists. She also posted eight digs.

This, however, was no comparison for Montclair. The team collected .371 in the match with 53 kills on 116 attempts and just 10 errors.

Red Hawks Leah Higgins collected 14 kills, and Carly Waterman closely followed with 13 kills. Higgins also lead with three blocks and two digs while Waterman posted 12 digs in comparison.

Jillian Wilson and Megan O’Rourke were also stars in the match for Montclair. Wilson hit .500 for the team with eight kills on 16 attempts and no errors. She was also responsible for adding two blocks. O'Rourke claimed the match-high of 48 assists, while Red Hawk Siyara Herbert posted 16 kills on defense to keep Montclair State in the lead.

This was the sixth time in tournament history that the Montclair and Ramapo teams competed against each other. The record now stands at 4-2 with Montclair holding a greater dominance against Ramapo.

The Red Hawks will travel to #1 Stockton University on Thursday in one of two NJAC Semifinal matches. As for the Roadrunners, the team will wait to see if they earn a bid for the ECAC Tournament. Bids will be announced in the afternoon on Monday, Nov. 11.
