This year’s Oscars included several unforgettable looks. Here is a list of this year’s top five gowns that you could not have missed.

  1. Cynthia Erivo in Versace: Cynthia Erivo strutted onto the Oscars red carpet in a flowy white Versace dress with an abstract-shaped bodice including diamond-encrusted detailing. She paired this gown with white Stuart Weitzman open-toed heels, which were complemented by the thigh-high slit in her dress. She accessorized this look with diamond earrings and rings from Maria Tash, and this jewelry, combined with her white hair, brought the lightness of this aesthetic together. Erivo was nominated for her lead role in “Harriet,” making her the only black actor that was nominated for an award this year. While her portrayal of Harriet Tubman has been her most prominent role in her acting career, Erivo has previously won a Tony Award in 2016 for her role in “The Color Purple.”

  2. Adriana Lima in Ralph and Russo: Adriana Lima sparkled on the Vanity Fair Oscars Party red carpet wearing a white single-strap Ralph and Russo gown. The satin dress was accentuated with pearls, crystals and beads. These assets lead to a thigh-high slit, revealing crystal-covered tights to complete the look. Lima’s hair was slicked back to highlight the gown and diamond earrings hung from her ears. Lima is a Brazilian model and actress. She is best known for being the longest-running Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1999 to 2018, and because of this, she was recognized in 2017 as “the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel.”

  3. Scarlett Johansson in Oscar de la Renta: The “Marriage Story” star wore a dress in a silver champagne color range for the Oscars. This strapless gown, made by Oscar de la Renta, wrapped Johansson’s torso in silver lining and netting, the jeweled threads dripping down to the bottom of her dress, which was colored like a rich champagne in a silk material. The short train behind her evened out this complex look, and she wore minimal jewelry from Forevermark. Johansson was nominated for “Best Actress” for her role in Netflix’s “Marriage Story” as well as “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in “Jojo Rabbit.” These were her first Academy Award nominations in her career, as these roles were considered her most critically acclaimed portrayals since her supporting role in “Her.”

  4. Janelle Monáe in Ralph Lauren: Janelle Monáe’s custom-made Ralph Lauren gown and cape was perhaps the most crowd-pleasing look on the carpet this year. The perfectly customized cape dress took 600 hours for designers to hand sew and align 168,000 Swarovski crystals. The silver theme in this look did not stop with this incredible dress, as it was accessorized with Forevermark diamond studs, choker and rings. Monáe is best known for her singing career, and she opened the Oscars with a performance of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

  5. Natalie Portman in Dior: By far, the most notable dress during this awards night was Natalie Portman’s custom-made Dior dress and cape. While the dress was black with simple gold assets, her black cape was lined in gold text that spelled the names of women directors that were snubbed of an Oscar nomination this year. This included names such as Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), and Alma Har'el (Honey Boy). While Portman was not nominated for an Oscar herself this year, her look spread like wildfire across all social media platforms as it was praised by fans around the world.
