Greek Life Orgs Collect Clothing for the Needy

Phi Kappa Sigma and Alpha Omicron Pi teamed up to collect over 25 bags of clothing during their annual “Strip For A Cause” clothing drive.

The fraternity and sorority joined together to collect clothing donations to give to the Ramapo Reform Church to help out local families during the holidays.

“One of the things we value most is giving back to our community, especially this time of year, and the response we got from the student body is really heartwarming,” said Alyssa Eufer, a junior and member of Alpha Omicron Pi.

Volunteers spent two days in the Fishbowl and Atrium to collect over two pick-up trucks worth of clothing.

The clothing was transported to the Ramapo Reform Church’s “Clothing Closet,” where anyone is welcome to come and take any amount of clothing they may need.

“We are so thrilled with the amount of donations we received. Seeing the Ramapo community come together this time of year is really heartwarming,” said Christie Hansen, a senior and member of Alpha Omicron Pi. “We would like to thank everyone that made a donation! It really is for a great cause, and the Ramapo Reformed Church is very thankful for what we are doing.”

“Strip For A Cause” received clothing donations from the entire Ramapo community, including other Greek organizations, athletes and teachers.

“It is truly touching to see such generosity from not just from our friends who wanted to help, but from this campus as a whole,” said Pat DiGangi, alumni chair of Phi Kappa Sigma. “Greeks, athletes, teachers and everybody else who makes this campus so unique all came together to work towards a wonderful cause, and it really paid off.”

Along with clothing, the fraternity and sorority also collected children’s books, bed sets, toys and blankets to donate to the Ramapo Reform Church.

“Giving back is very important to us, and it is great to see brothers and sisters coming together with the rest of the Ramapo community to make a difference,” said Ben Paulussen, president of Phi Kappa Sigma.
