‘Noche de Cultura’ commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month

On Thursday, Oct. 10, the Association of Latinos Moving Ahead hosted their cultural event, Noche de Cultura. This event was a part of the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month and was one of their repeating events from previous years.

Noche de Cultura ran from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and included food, music, prizes, dancing performances and a special musical performance by a Brazilian music class on campus.

Upon arrival at the event, students were ushered into a decked-out Pavilion covered in flags of different Hispanic countries as well as tattoos, place settings and balloons. The night included activities such as the Mar Y Tierra Game, Guess the Flag Kahoot, Musical Chairs and group pics by Aaron Berger.

Students came together to experience the Latino community here and were invited to come together and experience Hispanic culture without leaving campus. This event, much like years past, was filled to the brim with students of all different cultures coming together eating and listening to Hispanic music that gave them a little taste of culture.

This event will hopefully be back for another year to bring in more Hispanic culture and celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
