Women’s swim team heading towards their final event

 In a tri-meet against John Jay College and Kean University on Saturday, Oct. 12, Ramapo College Women’s Swimming managed a split, defeating John Jay but losing to New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Kean.

The 200 medley relay team, composed of Isabella Hanson, Grace Korey, Sovannary Taylor and Cameron Yovich, placed third in the race with a time of 2:00.29.

In the 1,000 freestyle race, Alazne Sudupe achieved third place, finishing at 11:34:33, with Grace Korey coming in fourth at 11:55:72. The 200 freestyle ended with Ramapo College’s Valeria Pages in third with a time of 2:09:53, and Korey dropping in for fourth place at 2:10:56.

Hanson came in third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06:75. Korey placed third in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:12:42.

Sudupe finished second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:26:56 and brought home the highest placement awarded for the Roadrunners during the meet.

In the 100 freestyle, Pages finished in 59.86, capturing third place in one of the most intense competitive swimming events. 

The 200 backstroke ended with freshman Mairin Huston finishing third at 2:27:21. Soon after, Korey placed third in the 200 breaststroke in just 2:40:82. In the 500 freestyle, the longest event during the competition, Rachel Vazquez finished in 6:03:58, grabbing another third-place finish for the Ramapo Roadrunners.

In the final event, the 200 freestyle relay team of Yovich, Sudupe, Huston and Pages finished third at 1:51:04.

Come support the Ramapo College women’s swimming team this Saturday, Oct. 19, as they compete against Baruch College at home at 2 p.m.
