The student center hosted a Spread the Love tabling on Monday put on by Project ARCH — “ARCH” standing for the Alliance of Roadrunners for Civic Honor. The tabling allowed students to send heartfelt messages to peers and professors across campus.
Members of the Ramapo community who passed through the student center were able to scan a QR code that took them to a Google Form. The form asked for the sender’s name and email address, the recipient’s name and email address, and the sender’s message.
“Then we take that message and put it into a cute little Canva graphic that we made,” said Project ARCH President Liz Mendicino. “And then we email it to that person to kind of just brighten their day.”
Mendicino explained that the tabling was inspired by the sentiments of Valentine’s Day that aimed to spread love and positivity across campus.
“We currently have a bill in the state legislature to get Election Day off at all state public colleges,” said Mendicino.
The Ramapo club works closely with Ramapo’s Student Government Association and the Civic and Community Engagement Center on campus.
“Really, our goal is just to make civic education accessible and to better the community in any way we can,” said Mendicino.
Project ARCH is a student-led grassroots initiative that was founded last spring. The campus organization seeks to inspire civic engagement and secure local voting accessibility.
