Ramapo’s men and women’s track and field teams visited New York to compete in the New York University (NYU) DIII Invitational on Saturday. NYU held the event at the Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory in Washington Heights.
For men’s track and field, senior Terrell Lockett finished in 22.83 seconds, taking sixth place while sophomore Logan Natale followed close behind finishing in 22.95 seconds, landing him ninth place.
Taking fourth place in the men’s mile run was junior Ryan Pena who finished in 4:20.17.
Junior Braden Holm finished fifth in 15.34m during the weight throw event. Finishing in ninth place by clearing 1.80m in the high jump was junior Nicolo Caminiti.
A team made up of Anthony Gentile, Mark Shinkorenko, Natale and Lockett finished in third place in the 4x400m relay in 3:27.11.
For women’s track and field, the 800m run sophomore Dale Leonard placed first, crossing the finish line in 2:17.49. Fellow Roadrunner, senior Zoey Cassavell, finished in 2:27.51, placing 12th.
In the mile run, Cassavell finished in second place, crossing the finish line in 5:19.36
Finishing in sixth place for the 3k was freshman Gianna Penyak in 10:45.47. In the same event, freshman Jasmin Silva-Vargas finished in 11:31.50 placing 17th.
In the 60m finals sophomore Ashley Gordon finished in 8.11 seconds, finishing in seventh place.
Junior Jessica Branham and freshman Bryanna Shepperson both cleared 1.45m in the high jump. In the long jump, Branham cleared 4.66m.
With a seventh-place finish in the 4x400m relay, Jianna Gorospe, Rea Pagatpatan, Lynell Thomas and Leonard ran 4:19.61.
This weekend the men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing at the New Jersey Athletic Conference indoor championships in Philadelphia, Pa. at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. More information can be found on the Ramapo Athletics website.
