The men’s volleyball team has a three-game win streak after victories against SUNY Purchase College and Manhattanville University over the weekend. The trips to Purchase, N.Y. on Friday and Monday were certainly worth the trek, with both games in the Skyline competition.
The team defeated Purchase College in a decisive 3-0 victory on their home court. Ramapo dominated the court with 48 kills against Purchase, 23 of those contributed by graduate student Reece Kirchofer alone with zero errors. Kirchofer also led the team in digs and aces during the match, recording eight digs and scoring four points off of landed aces.
Ramapo also came through with assists, as senior Jojo Meyer led the team with 39. Not only did Meyer contribute a majority of Ramapo’s 43 overall assists during the match, but tallied three digs and four kills, as well.
The team hit at .324, going 48-102 combined and managing only 15 errors. Purchase hit at .216, going 35-88 on attempts while managing 16 errors.

Channing Williams led Purchase’s offense, hitting .231 with 18 kills and posting nine errors on 30 attempts. Tyler Ryan was their defensive leader, tallying ten digs throughout the match.
On Monday night, the Roadrunners traveled back to Purchase, N.Y. to face a familiar opponent — Manhattanville University. In a close game, the Roadrunners came up victorious in a 3-2 win against the Valiants.
Kirchofer delivered another leading performance in their match, posting a double double with 20 kills and ten digs for the night. Meyer also contributed another dominating effort for the Roadrunners with 50 assists and 11 digs.
Freshman Brady Cascone dished out 13 kills, along with freshman Jan Tracz contributed 11. Sophomore Caleb Ford and freshman Mekkhai Brown each tallied seven blocks for Ramapo as well.
Manhattanville’s offense was led by Kyle Simmons, who recorded 18 kills, five blocks and two assists for the Valiants. Mason Moon also contributed heavily to their team, leading his team with 35 assists and 13 digs, while also recording an additional four blocks.
The men’s volleyball team will return to Skyline action on the road in Old Westbury, N.Y. where they will face off against SUNY Old Westbury on Friday, March 7.
This coming weekend, the team will compete in another Skyline Tri-Match hosted at Yeshiva, competing against Yeshiva University and St. Joseph’s University Long Island.
