Women’s Center and LGBTQ+ Services host Hidden Gems Pop-Up Shop

The Women’s Center and LGBTQ+ Services hosted another Hidden Gems Pop-Up Shop at the Trustees Pavilion to celebrate Women’s Herstory month on Friday, March 7.

The pop-up featured different small businesses and vendors that are all women- and queer-owned. Each store featured different items from each other, such as necklaces and thrifted clothing in order to gain more shoppers to their brands.

Trade-Up clothing swap had a huge corner set up with racks and bins full of fun thrifted items. If you were to bring old clothes of your own, you could take one of their items as an exchange.

GeezCloset was selling second-hand jeans and sweaters from their Depop shop, including small bins filled with $5 tops. While Darling Thriftique had a mix of preloved skirts and tops as well. Including unique sterling silver jewelry on display and other jewelry that was one for $13 or two for $23.

RCNJ’s Enactus, which uses the power of business to grow a positive change in their community, had a shop featuring handmade stuffed dog toys. A part of the sales will be donated to local animal shelters.

Two small businesses featured at the shop focused solely around jewelry. Sea’d and Stone’d was selling handcrafted necklaces and earrings made from Jersey Shore seaglass. Epiphany Jane creates sustainable handmade jewelry from gemstones and vintage charms.

Small crochet animals and figures could be purchased from both Jessie’s Crochet Creatures and Lady J’s Crochet Studio. Both businesses sold the cute small crochet animals for under $30.

Handcrafted coven-inspired candles were up on display at Houss Freya. Assorted shower melts and hydrating body oils were available for purchase as well. Their store is currently located in Montclair, N.J.

Chloe Dougherty Art provided whimsical stickers, bookmarks and small pieces of art predominantly featuring different animals, with 5% of proceeds being donated to Nature.org. MadsMagz was also selling custom prints and other merchandise such as hats and shirts.

Portside Swim Club was in attendance with their very own swimsuits designed for all body types. The beautifully designed suits are also made sustainably and to uplift women all over the world.

CoZie Cafe provided small cups of coffee along with assorted muffins for purchase. You can visit their comfy location in Fair Lawn, N.J.

The pop-up shop is a great way to honor and showcase Women’s Herstory Month here at Ramapo. The event held by the Women’s Center also taught students about sustainable fashion and why it is important.
