Ramapo’s very own Gbarper Dwah competed at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Golisano Training Center located in Rochester, N.Y. on March 14. The meet, hosted by Nazareth University, saw fast times and broken records by many athletes.
Dwah is a senior nursing major who has had many great accomplishments throughout her time here at Ramapo College. In the 2022 NCAA Championships, Dwah qualified for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Honorable Mention All-Conference and NJAC Runner-Up, NJAC Second Team All-Conference, USTFCCCA Metro All-Region and NCAA Championship Qualifier in various events.
In the 2022-2023 season, her accolades only grew in number, being named the three-time NJAC track athlete of the week, NJAC outstanding track athlete of the year, NJAC champion in the 60m dash, NJAC first team all-conference, NJAC runner-up in the 200m dash, NJAC second team all-conference and a NCAA championship qualifier.
In the 2023 outdoor season, Dwah held the 16th-fastest time in the 100m dash that season across all of NCAA Division III.
With all of these great accomplishments, it is no wonder that Dwah managed to beat her own personal record with a time of 7.60 seconds in the 60m dash. Finishing 11th place in the event, Dwah just missed advancing to the finals as the qualifying time was 7.56 seconds. Dwah was then named to the NCAA Second Team All-American.
This meet was Dwah’s second career NCAA indoor championship, and she now looks forward to the outdoor season. She holds the outdoor 100m program record, and is second in the 200m.
